Introduction:

Intrinsically linked to military uniforms the world over. Khaki and clothing made in this earthy hue even went on to be called Khakis. Its origins lie with the British Indian Army.

Colour:

Khaki literally means "dusty soil" in Urdu and its colour makes it ideal for camouflage in desert-like terrains. Still used for uniforms and countless outdoor purposes from equestrian to workwear. We love the practicality of this tough but super soft earthy golden brown, super soft brushed back fabric.

Properties:

Drills, twills and moleskin fabrics were traditionally used in protective clothing production for industrial workers and those with tough outdoor jobs. Now popular for country wear, bushcraft styles, hunting shooting, fishing and many other outdoor pursuits. Its fine twill weave, stable handle, heavyweight and classic country colourway make Classic Khaki - Brushed Back Twill perfect for a plethora of practical and classic clothing and it has the bonus of being super soft and lightly brushed.

This fabric exudes quality and practicality due to its strength, stability and versatile handle. It will drape well yet still hold crisp details such as collars and top-stitched panels; characteristic of jeans and utility styles.

Garment Suggestions:

Natural-toned fabrics always look smart/practical and this is an excellent choice to team with woodland camo fabrics and country tweeds. All you have to do is decide what to make from this super versatile fabric. Here are a few helpful suggestions to set you on your way:

There are of course countless other brilliant sewing patterns available, these are but a few. Other excellent uses are craft aprons, tool apron/holders, tote bags, messenger bags, hats, caps, rucksacks, bowling and barrel bags.
