Suiting, also known as 'worsted cloth' or 'suit fabric', is woven from fine worsted yarn, which gives a smoother, flatter, more lustrous appearance than other woolen fabrics. Click here to browse our Wool Collection.
Worsted is hard wearing and light-to-medium weight, and it holds a crease much better than a woolen cloth does. Suiting can also be made with synthetic fibres, which will often tend to strengthen the body of the fabric and can therefore add a slight stretch effect. Examples of such additions to suiting fabric could be materials such as elastane or polyester.
As well as synthetic blends, we also provide cotton suitings, which are ideal for easycare and everyday wear. We are extremely proud to offer fine Merino wool, wool silk, and wool linen blends for that added touch of luxury.
There are many plain suitings too: tweedy suitings, checked suitings ... a suiting to suit you!
Suiting's Great For...
Suits! All sorts of suits, from everyday suits to wedding suits. But beyond that...
We find that there are more uses for suiting that just suits, because it has a great handle and a soft drape. Therefore you can use it to make dresses and pinafores. Alternatively, why not put some to use for a bag-making project?
