Introduction:

Trieste Blue Black - Fine Italian Virgin Wool Worsted is a classic superfine flat weave, ex-designer, Italian wool worsted suiting.

Colour:

Trieste Blue Black this Italian classic is woven with timeless combed, almost black-navy all-wool fibres that produce a seriously stylish darkest navy. Navy tones are perennial classics, super-smart and so versatile, perfect for those who find black too harsh.

Properties:

Trieste Blue Black boasts a close flat matte weave. The deceptively lightweight hand belies the opposite, wool fabrics of this quality are hard-wearing, crease-resistant, yet comfortably warm. Tailored pieces will benefit from a quality lining. Italian suitings are some of the best in the world and this is no exception. Stable in handle yet sleek and drapey.

Garment Suggestions:

Trieste Blue Black is perfect for sharply tailored suits for both men and women, but definitely not limited to suits alone. If suit-making isn't your forte, put this superb fabric to use for less formal, but equally smart outfits, such as shirt-dresses, tunics, shift dresses and skirts too.

The Merchant & Mills - Shirt Dress and Trapeze Dress will look stunning in this fabric. The Pattern Stash's Cordelia Trousers are ideally suited to fine fabrics like this. The elegant drape achieved with the wide legs is so stylish.

There are many other patterns that will be suitable to use with Trieste Blue Black, think clean simple lines and un-fussy cuts! The Sew Different's Triple Tuck Smock and Folia Frock are excellent patterns and will make elegant key pieces in this classic navy worsted.

Trieste Blue Black - Fine Italian Virgin Wool Worsted

This is an absolutely wonderful fabric and worthy of a positive review. I wanted to use this fabric for a modification to a quality pair of men's trousers. As it happened, I did not have to use the fabric on this alteration because I could let out sufficiently enough. However, my eager eyes are now looking at this fabric with new thoughts and it will make a gorgeous pencil skirt with possibly a Dior style back opening. This really is quality fabric.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
