Introduction:
This Melton wool is created by weaving yarn on both the warp and weft. The fabric is then fulled, one of the processes used in creating melton to give that felt-like finish.

Rich Pitch Black - Melton Wool is a gorgeous melton, rich deep darkest black fabric with a ravishing Italian pedigree and is a true classic.
Properties:
This closely woven and felted fabric has a delightfully soft brushed surface that produces a cosy handle. Made from the silkiest, soft 100% lambswool this is so soft we are sure you will be delighted with its superior quality. Our first-rate Rich Pitch Black is stable both width and lengthways and boasts a soft, drapey, medium to heavyweight handle too.
Garment Suggestions:
Meltons are versatile felted fabrics with hardly any fraying to the cut edges and have the same appearance on both sides. The fabric is traditionally used for coats, jackets, waistcoats and many historical and costume applications as well as capes and stylish wraps.
Other Uses:
They also make an ideal base for 2-D needle-felted projects which can be made into bags, cushions and wall hangings, etc. Rich Pitch Black is also ideal for blankets & throws too! Why not personalise yours with a little needle felting or applique, team with your offcuts of Yorkshire Tweed fabrics for a wonderful combination.
