Introduction:

This richly coloured small-scale tartan-style fabric evokes festive thoughts of grand Highland balls with kilt-wearing men and elegantly dressed ladies dancing in ancient country houses upon wooden parquet floors. Perfect for festive seasonality and equally suitable for year-round use for clothing, crafts and light soft furnishings.

Colour:

Lochs and Glens - Tartan Style Suiting classic heritage tones of navy and green like the deep lochs and rolling glens of Scotland are accentuated by fine overchecks of red and black, in this classic tartan-style fabric.

Properties:

Lochs and Glens is woven in a classic twill weave with fine polyester and viscose yarns. The blended yarns produce a suiting weight fabric that is soft and drapey to handle feels like fine, soft lambswool yet is stable strong and hardwearing.

Garment Suggestions:

Tartan style fabrics have a timeless style and suiting weight fabrics are definitely not just for suits, tartan, plaids and checks are classics. Create iconic British designer styles with icons such as Vivienne Westwood and Alexander Mc Queen as your inspiration or choose lifelong country classic styles. Perfect for adding a pop of traditional colour and style to your wardrobe whether it's the festive season, Hogmanay, Burns Night or not.

Neat blazers and matching skirts, pencil, pleated - like traditional Kilts or A-line. Trouser lovers make sharp cigar-style trousers or glamorous wide-legged trousers with a retro style. Our The Pattern Stash - Cordelia Trousers are ideal, add deep turn-ups for a swishy weighted drape quality.

Cinch in your waist with a matching closely fitted The Pattern - Jemima Waistcoat for bombshell glamour and a forever outfit with class! Expand the vintage glamourpuss vibe and create waist-cinching wiggle dresses with tummy flattering pleats over the hips- alternately add peplums and fantail pleats in the back seam.

Look to style icons such as Dita Von Teese for inspiration, Charm Patterns have an excellent range of retro-style patterns. We think this classic tartan has very '60s vibes making it ideal for styles with a nod to that era. Think of the simple silhouettes of Mary Quant A-line dresses, cute pinafore dresses with fun pleats and contrasting white Peter Pan collars, patch pockets and chunky metallic zips. There is so much you can make from fabrics like Highland Romance - Tartan. Plaid is not just a fad and Tartan is timeless!

Other Uses:

Festive table covers, placemats, runners, Christmas stockings, gift bags, cushions, applique, patchwork and so much more- bags hats and caps too!
