Introduction:

Mystery of Midnight - District Check Worsted is another first-class suiting fabric originally destined for the same top British designer as our SOS Collection. Italian suiting fabrics are famed for their flawless quality and classic designs and this dark and mysterious beauty is no exception.

Colour:

Mystery of Midnight is woven in a palette of super-smart, rich-coloured yarns of grey multi-tonal blue and darkest brown. An alternating warp made from all three yarns is woven through the weft with dark brown and multi-tonal blues. The contrast of the jewel-hued blue and bitter chocolate brown emphasises the detailed district check (similar to a Prince of Wales) and has created a super-smart, dark navy-hued captivating fabric.

Properties:

Mystery of Midnight boasts a closely woven, stable handle, with a soft, chic drape quality which is perfect for creating flawless and timeless styles - you don't have to be a tailor to create flattering garments from this stunner.

Garment Suggestion:

You can of course make the smartest jackets, trousers, skirts, pinafore dresses, shift dresses and classic office and boardroom attire, but consider bias-cut dresses with an Anglo-Viv Westwood style: the bias cut and drape will show off the checked design perfectly.

For other great styles to try with simple clean-cut lines, look to Merchant and Mills for their Trapeze Dress and Factory Dress for comfortable yet smart workwear. Sew Different's: Tulip Dress, Everyday Chic Dress and Tie Belt Dress are all great styles to make in this designer Italian suiting fabric.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
