Introduction:

Petite Myrtille - Cosy Micro Birdseye Flannel is suitable for a wide range of seriously smart or smart/casual clothing, depending on the patterns and styles you choose to create, and has a designer pedigree.

Originally made by Italian craftsmen for the same designer as our SOS Collection, it's equally stunning and perfect for cross-seasonal wear - after all, wool is naturally temperature-regulating!

Colour:

Petite Myrtille is woven from a wonderful combination of multi-tonal grey, black, myrtille berry and dusty denim blue yarns in a complex birdseye weave. This weave is actually derived from a twill weave and resembles tiny ovular birdseyes surrounded by a lattice-like framework.

Properties:

The clever lattice in berry, black and blue showcases the beady grey birds' eyes. This fine wool flannel suiting fabric is stable and strong and boasts a cosy, medium-weight drape with a subtle sheen, which catches the light and begs to be used for elegant attire - after all... suiting is not just for suits!

Garment Suggestion:

Why use cotton flannel when you can snuggle into this all-wool naturally temperature-regulating wool? Use Petite Myrtille for super-smart work attire, wide-legged Katherine Hepburn style trousers, culottes and classic pleat-fronted trousers, neat pencil skirts, dresses and fit & flare dresses.

Utilise the excellent drape quality and add feminine ruffle details to your skirts and dresses; peplums and fishtail hemlines are perfect on '50s style wiggle dresses. Neat shift dresses and pinafores will become key workwear pieces made in this flawless fabric.

Update this classic for smart casual styles you can dress up or dress down: sports luxe styles, bomber and Harrington style jackets with gleaming zips and stud details. Create cosy utility-style boiler suits, over-shirts, shirt dresses or blouson jackets with a retro vibe, this first-rate fabric will make really neat and sharp details for pocket flaps, collars and cuffs.

Wow! I can't wait to use this.

The fabric has a lovely feel and washed brilliantly. A little stretch which is great and a subtle pop of colour. Really pleased with my purchase.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
