Introduction:

This delightful linen & cotton blend fabric comes to you in a warm neutral hue making it ideal for a multitude of 'feel good 'sewing room projects.

A new addition to the website and manufactured by the same renowned European company as our summer Linens of '21 & '22. These fabrics are the same superior quality and with an assortment of even more colours, designs and natural fibre types. Natural fibre lovers, this is for you!

Colour:

Milky Mocha is just as its name suggests a fabulously soft, cool, breathable linen fabric, woven in a classic twill with superfine soft milky mocha beige yarns setting the warp and natural white linen throughout the weft. The combination creates a fabulous warm neutral tone with a sketchy melange effect as pleasing as your favourite frothy mocha beverage. The reverse side of the fabric displays a more uniform mocha tone (with fewer natural slubs) and the twill diagonals are more visible.

Properties:

Linen has been used for centuries because of its beneficial properties; cool and breathable, gets softer with washing & wear and linen is impervious to moths and resists dirt and stains. Linen will not form lint or pill and can be washed at high temperatures with only moderate shrinkage.

The characteristic slubs (once viewed as a fault) are now part of the aesthetic appeal of quality linen fabric. It is stable, soft and has the feel of a favourite linen garment with a pre-washed hand. This medium-lightweight fabric is closely woven and has good opacity.

Garment Suggestions:

Milky Mocha will form crisp details (with a little light interfacing), on collars, cuffs and waistbands. Used in quantity it will form soft and full feminine gathers, with a reassuring drape, plus neat pleats, and pin-tucks. So all you have to do is decide what to make.

The Layer Up Collection by Sew Different is ideal for creating a capsule wardrobe of fresh spring-summer linen and ( linen blend) makes you will want to take through into autumn.

Soft, breathable and comfortable you will want to make a wardrobe full of key pieces for a superb, summer layered-chic linen look. Its light-medium weight and soft drape make it the ideal candidate for a plethora of uses from the stylish to the practical. Add some smocking details to the finely gathered bodice of a pretty dress for an on-trend Boho/ Prairie style. Megan Nielson Protea Capsule Collection is an ideal place to start for soft-gathered styles.

Put Milky Mocha to use for; simple boat-necked tops and classic shirts, it's also perfect for creating layering garments such as vest tops, drapey tunics and pinafore dresses. For an on-trend Boho/ Prairie style.

For more structured styles create a classic safari-style suit or chic shirt dress with a fabric belt, patch and flap pockets and smart epaulettes.

Pleated culottes, shorts and trousers like The Pattern Stash Cordelia Trousers look superb in this versatile linen fabric. Add a matching blazer such as The Blazer by The Avid Seamstress. This will also look superb with The Pattern Stash's Amelia Skirt.

Team this versatile linen fabric with others from the range for a totally complimentary wardrobe in cool and breathable natural fibres.
