Introduction:

Teal Rain - Printed Sateen Designer Shirting is a top-notch ex-designer, cotton sateen fabric perfect for creating cross-seasonal cool silky cotton garments and much more. An elegantly simple design of twinned raindrops is repeat printed in rhythmic harmony upon this handsome teal cotton sateen in fresh white. Suitable for five-star bespoke makes.

Colour:

Teal Rain is created from high thread count fine Turkish cotton yarns woven in a super smooth and silky sateen weave and printed with classic white for a chic self-assured style.

Properties:

Teal Rain is a high thread count, all cotton sateen that is cool, breathable, super soft and has a stable hand, with a soft and sumptuous drape quality which displays a subtle lustre when presented to the light. When gathered or pleated it will form excellent fullness, perfect for a multitude of styles from; tiered and ruffled, elegantly draped or pleated styles, to classic shirts and blouses.

Garment ideas:

Teal Rain will make superb classic or retro style shirts, Sew Mark Francis' Brighton Shirt Pattern and Vanessa Mooncie's Book: The Gentleman's Wardrobe also has a similar retro style shirt pattern with cropped sleeves. Emphasise the lustrous sheen by creating body skimming slim fit shirts or '70s-inspired ladies' blouses with full sleeves and deep cover buttoned cuffs, add a lavish long bow tie to the neckline for drama. The Assembly Line - Tie Bow Blouse or Sew Over It - Pussy Bow Blouse are two excellent options.

Put this fabulous fabric to use for '50s/ skater style fit & flare summer dresses. (Lining the bodice is recommended) Accessorise these stand-alone pieces with red or white shoes and handbags to create a classic movie star combination.

Create cool cotton classics like the Sew Different - Camomile Kaftan or Darjeeling Frock perfect for the holiday season. Shirt-dresses, tunics and play/ jumpsuits are also excellent choices to make from this cool cotton classic.

The Megan Nielsen Patterns' Protea Capsule Wardrobe would make perfect examples of pretty full-gathered styles for easy, stunning outfits and so versatile!

All of these ex-designer shirting fabrics will of course make the most handsome classic pyjamas with piped collars, pockets and cuffs. Add matching robes for the full set The Gentleman's Wardrobe also has a superb robe pattern!

Lovely weight and feel

This is a fabulous fabric, soft to the touch with a subtle sheen (sateen). The small pattern is smaller than I expected but it gives the fabric an air of sophistication. It does crease a little because it's cotton but it washes and iron well. I also bought some "Secret Code" fabric which has the same design, in creamy-white with grey small pattern, to use on the same garment as a contrast, probably the collar and/or yoke.
