Introduction:

Italian Evening - Light Wool Flannel is another first-class suiting fabric originally destined for the same top British designer as our SOS Collection. Woven in Italy by a company famed for its flawless quality and classic designs. This deep, dark beauty is no exception.

Colour:

Italian Evening is woven in a classic twill weave from a rich and dark palette of super-smart,  ink-blue and black yarns, the colour of the midnight Italian sky when deep in the Tuscan hills. A subtle change from the go-to navy, Italian Evening is super smart and ideal for gents' and ladies' apparel.

Properties:

Italian Evening boasts a closely woven, stable hand, with a soft lightly felted and brushed feel, and a chic and lustrous drape quality which is perfect for creating timeless styles - you don't have to be a tailor to create flattering garments from this stunner.

Garment Suggestions:

You can of course make the smartest jackets, trousers, skirts, pinafore dresses, shift dresses and classic office and boardroom attire, emphasize the elegant drape quality perfect for wide-legged Audrey Hepburn style trousers, culottes and classic pleat-fronted trousers, neat pencil skirts,  pinafore and shift dresses

Italian Evening will drape tuck and gather perfectly- ideal for feminine flared styles, perhaps with a vintage '50s vibe we're thinking fit and flare, full-skirted dresses and flirty wiggle dresses with fantail pleats!

Other great styles to try are simple clean-cut lines, look to Merchant and Mills - Trapeze Dress or Factory Dress for comfortable yet smart work wear. Sew Different's: Tulip Dress, Everyday Chic Dress and Tie Belt Dress are all great styles to make in this designer suiting fabric.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
