Introduction:

Egyptian Blue - Premium Stretch Suiting fabric boasts a matte finish and a fine twill weave. This excellent blended suiting is woven from fine yarns but is not as lightweight as worsteds, making it ideal for super smart garments that are easy to wear and easy to care for.

Colour:

As its name suggests this Egyptian Blue boasts a beautifully rich Lapiz or French navy hue. This stunning fabric has all those rich jewel tones, perfect for colour blocking with other jewel hues for your A/W wardrobe and easily incorporated into Spring with classic red and white.

Properties:

Egyptian Blue has a stable handle lengthwise, with the benefit of a retentive stretch across the width, due to 2% added nylon and 1% elastane and a superb and substantial drape quality that's super swishy and stylish- perfect for feminine peplums and drapey styles.

Garment Suggestions:

Egyptian Blue is perfect for creating versatile pieces for your bespoke wardrobe. The Pattern Stash - Cordelia Trousers and The Pattern Stash - Amelia Skirt will look fabulous teamed with a plethora of coat and jacket styles from tailored blazers to trench coats and cape-coat styles. Why not jump on board the boiler suit worker clothing/utility trend and create a hard-wearing, stylish and warm piece of clothing you can dress up or dress down?

Merchant and Mills - The Thelma boiler suit is a perfect style as are over-shirts, bomber jackets etc, the Sienna Maker Jacket from Closet Core Patterns is a similar style. We love The Avid Seamstress - The Blazer for a great introduction to soft tailoring. Create catwalk-worthy, sharp silhouettes from this Ex-Designer Virgin Wool blend and steal the show!

Make the most of this fabulous fabric's drape quality and width-wise ease by fashioning 1950s style fit & flare dresses, skater dresses, and wiggle dresses with feminine peplum details.

Gorgeous colour and quality

I have just made a lovely pair of trousers with this wool fabric. The elastane gives them that added bit of comfort when wearing. I love the colour so much I have bought some more to make a dress.

Beautiful blue fabric

Fabric arrived promptly and well packaged. It is a beautiful shade of blue and is lovely heavy fabric, will drape nicely and looks expensive. I'm very pleased with it and loved the special gift that came with, the lining fabric is gorgeous and the sewing kit is very handy, thank you.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
