Introduction:

Dusty Slate Blue - Fine Wool Worsted is a beautiful wool blend suiting fabric boasting a matte finish and a versatile flat weave. This excellent suiting is woven from fine yarns but is considerably heavier than some superfine worsteds, making it ideal for super-smart corporate garments and school uniforms that are practical, easy to wear and easy to care for.

Colour:

Dusty Slate Blue The multi-tonal grey yarns create the cross-hatched effect which has universal appeal.

Dusty Slate Blue has a stable handle, with the benefit of a retentive stretch across the width due to added elastane and a superb and substantial heavy drape quality. Blue is a staple tone in most people's wardrobes, practical yet chic and smart, and easy to mix & match with any other tone, add punchy orange or mellow mustard to your outfits to add a pop of colour!

Properties:

Dusty Slate Blue create your workwear wardrobe from this superb wool and elastane fabric; neat pencil skirts, pleated skirts, figure-skimming pinafore and shift dresses, slim-fit trousers and matching blazers. Make the most of this fabulous fabric's drape quality and width-wise stretch by fashioning '50s style fit & flare dresses, skater dresses, wiggle dresses with feminine peplums or sophisticated cowl necks.

There are many other patterns available suitable to use with Dusty Slate Blue, think clean simple lines and unfussy cuts!

For something a little sharper; create classic wide-legged trousers The Pattern Stash - Cordelia Trousers and matching waistcoats Jemima Waistcoat for confident feminine style. Dress this look down with classic Fair Isle jumpers and a pair of brogues. For full-on feminine glamour go the whole hog and create a matching blazer with a velvet collar and pocket flaps, classic cuts never date.

We advise washing this fabric on a wool wash or hand wash. Do not tumble dry! We recommend sample wash testing your fabric before going ahead with your project

This fine worsted wool is smooth, tightly woven and lightweight which I will use for a tailored garment. Highly recommended for tailoring and dressmaking, and would buy again if available.

Beautiful Worsted Wool

This tailoring fabric is a lightweight, finely woven fabric that feels silk smooth. The colour is lovely and I’ve order this for my tailoring tailoring course but is equally lovely in non tailoring garments too.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
