Introduction:

Lustrous Green Ivy - Linen & Cotton Twill is a finely, woven, ex-designer linen and cotton twill fabric. A combination of strong, breathable blended yarns in classic black produces a versatile fabric perfect to dress up or down. This is no ordinary lightweight denim, this is designer utility fabric. Consider this: luxe utility fabric.

Colour:

Lustrous Green Ivy this soft dusty evergreen linen cotton twill, has a lush depth with slight blue undertones.

Take a look here at the other ex-designer Linens including other colourways.

Properties:

Lustrous Green Ivy has excellent stability and the most beautiful, reassuring drape quality which displays its fine lustre, making it perfect for a mountain of uses. This fabric will hold crisp details like collars and cuffs plus it will form superb ruffles, gathers and pleats. Drills and Twill styles have perennial appeal. Classic black will form key pieces within your wardrobe. A natural fibre blend makes this beauty strong yet breathable and kind to sensitive skin - perfect for clothing all members of the family.

Garment Suggestions:

Create unique shirts and blouses, shirtdresses, tunics and the most elegant and wearable dresses you will return to season after season. Vogue Patterns V1672 is an elegant wrap bodice dress with a gently flared skirt, perfect for wearing throughout the seasons layering up into autumn/ winter with cardigans, tights and boots.

Emphasise the wonderful lustrous drape with the gathered tiers and prairie style of patterns such as the Sew Different's Layer Up Collection. If trousers are more your style, The Pattern Stash - Cordelia Trousers or Zadie Jumpsuit - Paper Theory are ideal.

Team with Lustrous Classic Black for stylish colour blocking.

Utility styles are super useful and never date. The Assembly Line Patterns are ideal for utility styles, as are Merchant & Mills and The Maker's Atelier. There are of course lots of other fabulous pattern brands out there just choose patterns that let the fabric sell itself.

Other Uses:

Aprons, napkins, table covers, runners, applique, embroidery and so much more!

beautiful fabric

I ordered this to make the Friday pattern company Bernadette skirt and it was exactly right.
The colour was exactly what I wanted and the fabric hit the exact sweet spot between crisp and drape, also perfect weight.
Washed like a dream and didn't appear to shrink very much at all.
Only point to note difference in texture on the two sides was slight but present so I put chalk marks on wrong side.
Think a Wildwood dress or a Jo in this would be amazing so considering buying more.

A stunner lurking in the undergrowth

You would be forgiven for having passed Lustrous Green Ivy linen and cotton by on first perusal. I did just that, and wow, did I nearly miss a real star fabric. I came back to it for a skirt, and have just washed and ironed the fabric ready to begin sewing. Those who have read my blog pieces and reviews know I am hot on how things wash. All I can say on this one is it comes up perfectly on a 30˚ wash and feels SO smooth my iron has got a huge crush on it. The iron simply slid over it as if it were silk against a dew-soft skin, and if anything the lustre of the 'lustrous' is even better. I had feared it might be not quite drapey enough for my plans, but it hangs beautifully. It is not a 'popping' colour, but wear a floral blouse, or even give it a pop of its own with a bright and fussy belt or collar ( if for a dress) and Lustrous Green Ivy will make you feel a million dollars - chic, understated, and caressed by that smoothness with which my iron is now besotted. I would give it 11/10 if I could.

Good quality, great colour!

Despite the warnings about the colour/picture quality in the product listing I found it was a really good match. Planning to make a pair of light summer trousers and this will be great - it's not too heavy but has just enough structure. Very happy with my purchase!
