Slubby Linen & Cupro - Silver Lining:

This amazing fabric has a classic mid grey tone and a superb subtle silky sheen, not to mention that it is woven with black and grey to give a shot effect (akin to silk Dupion), the natural slubs of the linen produce a truly smart but laid back style.

We teamed the Silver Lining with Dove Grey Diamond Weave, a lightweight 100% cotton that has an almost honeycomb-like weave detail, with the two fabrics complimenting each other perfectly.

The linen content of Silver Lining gives a firm and hard-wearing stable handle, meaning that it’s super easy to sew, whilst the cupro fibres add a soft silky sheen and drape quality to this premium fabric.

The light dove grey tones of Dove Grey Diamond Weave which acts as a lining for our inspirational garment, compliments the silver tones of the linen & cupro, as well as acting as a comforting cotton layer which sits against the bodice perfectly.

Grey fabrics are the mainstay of the fashion savvy. Grey is perfect for classic looks teamed with black and white, or ideal as a grounding colour for bright or bolder tones.

We love this versatile designer chic linen & cupro for its wonderful style and practicality too!

Slubby Linen and Cupro - Silver Lining is a stable woven fabric which also boasts a smooth drape quality making it perfect for a host of versatile garments, be they smart or smart casual, depending on how you style them.

As many of you already know, at Fabworks we have a truly talented team who are brilliant seamsters and fabric testers. So we had the joyful task of fashioning a cross-seasonal garment to inspire you, using the Slubby Linen and Cupro - Silver Lining.

Here's what we conjured up. Read on to find out more...

Garments are often laundered after construction, however we always choose to wash our fabric first when making garments like this. We allowed extra fabric for this purpose. From our own research and experience we know that linen content fabrics can shrink by 7-15%. We also expect the fabric to crease, as creasing is a natural characteristic that linen lovers tend to embrace. This effortless relaxed style is one the Italians adopt and you can be assured that you’re wearing designer fabric that’s breathable and hard-wearing.

We washed our Slubby Linen and Cupro at 30degrees on a delicates cycle and chose to iron it whilst still damp. This is necessary as the fabric can crease and crumple a lot when washed. Do not despair. We’ve got all the answers.

Click here for a full Fabworks care guide for this month's FOTM. For general washing guidance please see the FAQs page.

Once ironed the creases come out and the fabric returns to its former state with a slightly washed and worn look and feel that we love! The shrinkage was minimal too.

Tara, our beautiful model and creator of this fab outfit, chose to use the NEW LOOK PATTERN 6446, a super stylish and versatile jumpsuit. Its clean lines and wide culotte style legs are perfect for showcasing the fine woven details and sheen of these two first rate fabrics.

The mid grey tone makes for super versatile style. Wear as a stand alone piece in summer, add a cute T-shirt for spring, or team with a cosy roll neck sweater for autumn and winter. Add some long winter boots and knitted tights and you have yourself a stylish retro ‘70s vibe that’s perfect.
