Yorkshire Heather Herringbone - Yorkshire Tweed is a gorgeous all wool tweed. Manufactured in Huddersfield undergoing the same processes as our exclusive Heart of Huddersfield range. This fabric is not one of Fabworks' own exclusive designs.
Woven from a delightful blend of multi tonal yarns in a classic herringbone weave, this fabric is full of the rich purple, berry tones of nature. Dark and dusty charcoal grey yarns with natural white fibres form the base. A superb multi toned yarn (the colour of Yorkshire heather in full bloom) forms the weft, creating a very subtle contrast between the opposing chevrons of charcoal in the herringbone weave. Look deeply into the combination of yarns and weave and you will be transported to a wild walk across the Yorkshire moorland lush with purple heather.
An excellent jewel toned Yorkshire tweed which is just stunning. Yorkshire Heather is a closely woven woollen fabric. It has a versatile medium weight and a traditional rustic wool feel that boasts a stable handle that drapes reassuringly with the promise of cosy warmth. It’s the perfect fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects - it will always do as it’s told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.
All lovers of textiles will find a plethora of uses for this first-rate herringbone weave, taking you through A/W and perfectly into early spring.
Dressmakers; Yorkshire Heather is perfect for fashioning classic outerwear and hard-wearing separates. Start with simple and stylish pencil skirts, A-line skirts and waistcoats, choose a complementary quality lining and you’ll have garments that will soon become perennial favourites. Shift dresses and pinafore dresses are super comfy and make classic key pieces. When your sewing skills are more established, try classic jackets, coats and capes. Add multi toned, horn type buttons to your makes, picking out the tones of purple and grey for an individual style. Traditional hacking jacket styles, with elbow patches and pocket flaps of contrasting grey or berry purple corduroy will produce an individuality to die for.
Interior Designers; use this hard-wearing wool herringbone to create a range of coordinating soft furnishings such as cushions, throws, blinds and curtains for a truly harmonious styling in the home.
Craftspeople; appliquéd cushions, bag making, door stops, draught excluders, hats, caps, neck warmers, mittens & wrist-warmers, throws & blankets and much more. Whatever this fabric inspires you to do!
