Linen & Viscose Crinkle Gauze - Raspberry Meringue is a fabulous light and airy fabric, woven in delightful pale raspberry pink like its namesake.

A combination of breathable fibres form the mainstay of this fabric, like a freshly whipped meringue, with a touch of polyester for extra strength and ease of wear/care. Raspberry Meringue boasts a soft, cool feel and is gently textured with a pre-crinkled treatment that produces a fabulously chic, relaxed style. This fabric will make the kind of garments you want to drift around in elegantly on those balmy summer days or on your well earned vacations.

This very versatile, easy wear easy care fabric is the sophisticated equivalent of cotton cheesecloth. Throughout the '70s crinkled cheesecloth fabrics were used for high fashion garments with a hippy / boho style, now a new take on the style has made a come back.

Raspberry Meringue has a wonderful drape quality, is malleable and soft and stable. Truly easy wear easy care, simply wash your fabric, shake it out and twist the garment, then leave to dry naturally and the crinkles will be re-emphasised! Use the same method when packing your made up garments and you won’t have to worry about creases where you don’t want them.

Use Raspberry Meringue to make cool and comfortable S/S clothing. Try Bardot and gypsy style ruffle tops, extend this trend to make maxi dresses and jumpsuits. By adding a muslin lining or cotton voile you give yourself extra versatility to create style with less fullness and added modesty. Super chic palazzo style pants teamed with matching longline over-shirts are always a classic, culottes and culottes style shorts will have a superb feminine flair when made in this excellent fabric.

This fabric is very similar to a double gauze.

Dress

My purchase of this fabric did not disappoint. It almost feels like silk and is so light and airy that one could be wearing nothing!.. I made a Style Arc Naomi dress in this fabric and although this pattern is perhaps not what I would wear in this heat I know I will wear this dress in more temperate weather. It sewed beautifully and was not hard to handle. I tested the iron temperature out which was good because if too hot it shrivels the fabric. Apart from that it was everything I hoped it should be. Oh by the way the colour is just my palette and I love it.
