Rich Kingfisher - Teal Herringbone is an all wool herringbone fabric from the Rain On The River collection, one of our very special Heart of Huddersfield wools.
Spun from a blend of the finest wool fibres, forming a subtly contrasted deep kingfisher blue all over tone. Alternating black and dark teal warp yarns forms the base, with a stunning deep dark turquoise weft yarn. The combination of these yarns creates an overall effect of rich kingfisher with a subtle marled effect to the chevrons.
The Rain On The River collection draws its inspiration from the aquatic side of nature - the plants, animals and climate that we see over, under and around the gentle streams, flowing rivers, heavy rains and calm canals.
A closely woven woollen fabric that features a versatile light-medium weight and a soft wool feel with a stable handle with a reassuring drape that can be trusted to form pretty gathers. This is the perfect fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects, as it will always do as it’s told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.
Dressmakers, Reenactors, Costumiers, Interior Designers and Craftspeople and all lovers of textiles will find a plethora of uses for this first-rate herringbone, taking you through A/W and into spring.

For the daring and creative; feminine Chanel-style suits with coordinating velvet trims or your own bespoke frayed tweed trim are stylish classics.
Reenactors and Costumiers; embrace the natural aquatic blue-green hues of this all wool fabric, it’s perfect for hard-wearing outerwear - natural fibres with a classic weave. Sumptuous!
Interior Designers; use this classic wool herringbone to create a range of warming soft furnishings such as cushions, throws, blinds and curtains for a truly harmonious styling in the home.
Craftspeople; appliquéd cushions, bag making, door stops, draught excluders, hats, caps, neck warmers, mittens & wrist-warmers, throws & blankets and much more. Whatever this fabric inspires you to do!
The Perfect Fit; having designed the whole collection, testing out colour and weave combinations we think that Rich Kingfisher works excellently with the rest of the Rain On The River collection as well as the other striking rich and warm toned herringbones that feature the same teal and black warp. If you’re looking for another herringbone to really set off the deep blue tones combine with Pansy Petal - Teal Herringbone or Holme Moss - Teal Herringbone for a fabulously rich colour palette.
Did you know that there are two different coloured warps within the twelve Herringbone fabrics? There are six herringbones with a soft marled pale grey warp, which combine with the coloured weft yarns to make these six gorgeous soft pastels tones. The other warp is a rich deep marled teal with hints of black that combines with the coloured weft yarns to make these striking rich and warming tones. Rich Kingfisher is one of the six rich and warming herringbones.
