Chambray Style Light Blue Denim is just as its name suggests a fabulously soft (almost washed and worn), cool, breathable linen and cotton blend fabric, woven from a combination of fresh natural white yarns (on the warp) and the most beautiful sky blue on the weft. The combination creates a fabulous sketchy melange effect with the look of light denim-hued chambray.

Made in Europe by a company of world renown, with centuries of expertise and tradition. This blended fabric gives you the benefits of both wonderful natural fibres.  Cotton blended with linen produces a softer, finer fabric that is easier to iron. Linen and cotton have been used for centuries because of their beneficial properties; cool and breathable, get softer with washing & wear and linen is impervious to moths and resists dirt and stains. Linen will not form lint or pill and can be washed at high temperatures with only moderate shrinkage. The characteristic slubs (once viewed as a fault) are now part of the aesthetic appeal of quality linen fabric.

Chambray Style Light Blue Denim is stable, soft and has the feel of a favourite linen shirt. This light (but not flimsy) relaxed chambray-style fabric will form crisp details (with a little light interfacing), collars and cuffs. Used in quantity it will form feminine gathers, pleats, pin-tucks and ruffles. So all you have to do is decide what to make.  Soft, breathable and oh so comfortable you will want to make a wardrobe full of key pieces for a superb, summer layered-chic linen look. Its lightweight and soft drape make it the ideal candidate for a plethora of uses from the stylish to the practical.

Add some smocking details to the finely gathered bodice of a pretty dress for an on-trend Boho style, alternatively add some embroidered braid or appliques for folk art style worthy of Frida Kahlo (Sewing Bee series 7 will provide inspiration).

Put Chambray Style Light Blue Denim  to use for simple boat-necked tops and pretty blouses, it's also perfect for creating layering garments such as vest tops, drapey tunics and pinafore dresses. Heavily pleated culottes and shorts will look superb in beautiful blue skies summer fabric.

Perfect for my project.

I bought the minimum amount of this to create an outfit for a doll that has been in the family for almost 200 years. It drapes well and is easy to sew ip by hand. Just what I needed! I may need to buy more for a human version .....

Beautiful Material

This is a really beautiful fabric to work with. I'm currently using it to line a reproduction of a medieval Bocksten Man cloak. It really looks the part, and the colour matches many of the shades that you would find from natural dyes at the time, so suits my purposes perfectly. I have bought from Fabworks before, and will definitely continue to do so in the future.
