Mallards Meander - Hazy Herringbone Yorkshire Tweed

per half metre
Fabric Code: A3e7

Mallards Meander - Hazy Herringbone Yorkshire Tweed is a gorgeous all wool tweed. Manufactured in Huddersfield undergoing the same processes as our exclusive Heart of Huddersfield range. This fabric is not one of Fabworks' own exclusive designs.

Woven from a delightful blend of multi-tonal yarns in a fabulous obscured herringbone weave, this fabric is full of rich natural tones. Beautiful melange weft yarns of bulrush brown - riverside reeds and fallen leaves - rust form the base. A stunning dark teal green yarn (the colour of mallard ducks iridescent plumage) forms the warp (sitting alongside rich black), creating a subtle contrast between the chevrons of the herringbone weave. The combination of the two yarns evokes mallards meander down a cool and shadowy reed-filled stream.

An excellent jewel-toned Yorkshire Tweed which is just stunning. Mallard Meander is a closely woven woollen fabric. It has a versatile medium weight and traditional rustic wool feel that boasts a stable handle that drapes reassuringly with the promise of cosy warmth. It’s the perfect fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects - it will always do as it’s told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.

Dressmakers, Reenactors, Costumiers, Interior Designers and Craftspeople and all lovers of textiles will find a plethora of uses for this first-rate diamond weave, taking you through A/W and perfectly into spring.

Dressmakers; Mallards Meander is perfect for fashioning classic outerwear and hard-wearing separates. Start with simple and stylish pencil skirts, A-line skirts and waistcoats, choose a complimentary quality lining and you’ll have garments that will soon become perennial favourites. Shift dresses and pinafore dresses are super comfy and make classic key pieces. When your sewing skills are more established, try classic jackets, coats and capes. Add multi-toned, horn type buttons to your makes, picking out the tones of brown or green for an individual style.

Reenactors and Costumiers; The rich jewel tones in this fabric are ideal for a range of garments from capes and tunics to trousers and over dresses.

Interior Designers; use this hard-wearing wool herringbone to create a range of coordinating soft furnishings such as cushions, throws, blinds and curtains for a truly harmonious styling in the home.

Craftspeople; appliquéd cushions, bag making, door stops, draught excluders, hats, caps, neck warmers, mittens & wrist-warmers, throws & blankets and much more. Whatever this fabric inspires you to do!
