This first rate wool blend, coating fabric was originally made for a top British designer. Woven in Italy by master weavers in a double-cloth twill, dual layers give a soft and almost padded feel to this beauty. Vintage Rouge - Padded Wool Twill is a deep and colour saturated pink-like vintage rouge.

Boasting a soft, non itchy, smooth wool feel, the face side of Vintage Rouge shows off its classic twill weave, with fine diagonal lines which subtly catch the light, giving a sophisticated air.

This high quality wool blend is stable both width and lengthwise and has a reassuringly heavy drape quality perfect for jacket, coat and cape making.

Ideal garments to make are classic overcoats, cocoon coats, pea coats, simple but stylish capes, classic heavy trench coat styles and simple neat collarless jackets. Keep your design choices simple and let Vintage Rouge - Padded Wool Twill showcase its simple yet feminine elegance.

Lovely colour, great for a dress or skirt

Nice jewel toned colour. Would be great for clothing although a bit thin for a coat. I would probably make a pinny dress or a pencil skirt from it.

Not as described.

Agree with previous review. Nice fabric, but the colour is totally misrepresented by both photographs and description. It's a a much duller and browner pink, and less saturated, than these suggest. It'll be a good candidate for a stash swap. Disappointing.

Nice wool fabric

Loved the fabric, quite soft but would drape nicely. Personally I didn't like the colour.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
