Fields of Gold - Herringbone - Yorkshire Tweed is a gorgeous all wool tweed. Manufactured in Huddersfield undergoing the same processes as our exclusive Heart of Huddersfield range. This fabric is not one of Fabworks' own exclusive designs.
Woven from a delightful blend of multi tonal yarns, in a fabulous herringbone weave, this fabric is full of the golden tones of sun-ripened crops. Beautiful multi-tonal warp yarns of natural, multi-toned grey and mossy green form the base. A superb golden coloured yarn (the colour of corn, wheat and barley, with fine added fibres of saffron) forms the weft, creating a superb contrast between the chevrons of the herringbone weave. The overall palette of multi tones is like gazing upon a swaying ocean of the fields of gold.
An excellent, uplifting, sun-filled Yorkshire tweed which is just stunning. Fields of Gold is a closely woven woollen fabric. It has a versatile medium weight and a traditional rustic wool feel that boasts a stable handle that drapes reassuringly with the promise of cosy warmth. It’s the perfect fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects - it will always do as it’s told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.
Dressmakers, Reenactors, Costumiers, Interior Designers and Craftspeople and all lovers of textiles will find a plethora of uses for this first-rate herringbone weave, taking you through A/W and perfectly into spring.
Dressmakers; Fields of Gold is perfect for fashioning classic outerwear and hard-wearing separates. Start with simple and stylish pencil skirts, A-line skirts and waistcoats, choose a complementary quality lining and you’ll have garments that will soon become perennial favourites. Shift dresses and pinafore dresses are super comfy and make classic key pieces. When your sewing skills are more established, try classic jackets, coats and capes. Add multi toned, horn type buttons to your makes- picking out the autumnal tones for an individual style.
