Alpine Rockery - Yorkshire Tweed Herringbone

per half metre
Fabric Code: A4b24

Alpine Rockery - Yorkshire Tweed Herringbone is  a gorgeous all wool tweed. Manufactured in Huddersfield undergoing the same processes as our exclusive Heart of Huddersfield range. This fabric is not one of Fabworks' own exclusive designs.

Woven from a delightful blend of cleverly textured yarns, this subtle yet fresh combination has a predominantly mid grey tone akin to craggy limestone rocks. A beautiful multi tonal warp yarn of mid marled grey forms the base and the natural white yarn forms the weft. The weave of the yarns creates a delicate contrast between the chevrons of the herringbone weave. The addition of pretty multicoloured Donegal flecks throughout the natural white yarn elevates this delightful fabric producing further points of interest and the opportunity to add multicoloured notions such as buttons and accessories.

This subtle detail of the yarn sits prettily between the limestone grey chevrons, like brightly coloured alpine flowers sitting happily in a neat rockery. If you're a lover of grey and want to gently add some pops of colour, this is an ideal starting point.

Alpine Rockery- Yorkshire Tweed Herringbone is a closely woven woollen fabric featuring a versatile medium weight and a traditional rustic wool feel that boasts a stable handle that drapes reassuringly with the promise of cosy warmth. It’s the perfect fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects - it will always do as it’s told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.

Dressmakers, Reenactors, Costumiers, Interior Designers and Craftspeople and all lovers of textiles will find a plethora of uses for this first-rate herringbone, taking you through A/W and perfectly into spring.

Dressmakers; Alpine Rockery - Yorkshire Tweed Herringbone is perfect for fashioning classic outerwear and hard-wearing separates. Start with simple and stylish pencil skirts, A-line skirts and waistcoats, choose a complementary quality lining and you’ll have garments that will soon become perennial favourites. Shift dresses and pinafore dresses are super comfy and make classic key pieces. When your sewing skills are more established, try classic jackets, coats and capes. For the daring and creative; feminine Chanel-style suits with coordinating velvet trims or your own bespoke frayed tweed trim are a superb style to try. Won’t this make the sweetest children’s coats too, perhaps with frilled and gathered details, and perfect for a page boy’s waistcoat, at a winter wedding!

Reenactors and Costumiers; embrace the classic tones of this all wool fabric, it’s perfect for creating hard-wearing outerwear - natural fibres and classic weave. Ideal!

Interior Designers; use this hard-wearing wool herringbone to create a range of coordinating soft furnishings such as cushions, throws, blinds and curtains for a truly harmonious styling in the home.

Craftspeople; appliquéd cushions, bag making, door stops, draught excluders, hats, caps, neck warmers, mittens & wrist-warmers, throws & blankets and much more. Whatever this fabric inspires you to do!

Did you know that there are three other fabrics woven in this textured Donegal yarn?
