This splendid black and gold lurex voile has such an Art Deco vibe, we just had to call it Deco Diva! Woven from superfine polyester and lurex yarns, in a clever devoré style weave, which showcases the deco style design of intertwining black and gold metallic crescents and stripes against a voile background of dusty charcoal hue.
Deco Diva boasts a stable handle across the width and length. It has a voluminous drape quality which is demonstrated when the fabric is gathered and tucked, almost holding itself up without the need of stiffeners or netting, making it ideal for statement garments for evening wear, costume, carnival or dance wear.
The Art Deco design and colour palette evokes images of super stylish opera coats and duster coats, perfect for throwing on over sleeveless dresses and tops to create instant drama! Create a similar style with Stitchless TV’s - Sculptural Bucket Coat Pattern. This easy to make pattern has a YouTube tutorial where you are taken through the steps to make your coat. You can overlock the seams or use satin bias binding for a polished finish.
Alternate jacket/duster coat styles are kimono style patterns; an easy make and always a classic. Utilise the voluminous drape and body and create stunning dresses and skirts with box pleated skirts and tucked, draped bodice details. Use a taffeta weight black base fabric to create a basic under dress/skirt and then let your imagination run riot with the Deco Diva creating drama and detail on the surface!
