Rowan Tree Herringbone - Yorkshire Tweed

per half metre
Fabric Code: A5d13

Rowan Tree Herringbone - Yorkshire Tweed is a gorgeous all wool tweed. Manufactured in Huddersfield undergoing the same processes as our exclusive Heart of Huddersfield range. This fabric is not one of Fabworks' own exclusive designs.

Woven from a delightful blend of multi-tonal yarns, this fabric is bursting with life and full of rich natural tones, like its namesake (the Celtic mythological Tree of Life). A beautiful multi tonal warp yarn of golden green moss sits alongside a natural grey melange yarn to form the base. A stunning rich rust yarn forms the weft (the colour of Rowan tree berries), creating a subtle contrast between the chevrons of the herringbone weave. The combination of the two yarns and herringbone design, evokes walking through groves of Rowan trees displaying their feathery fronds of foliage and bunches of gleaming berries.

An excellent autumnal toned fabric. This fabulous herringbone is just stunning. Rowan Tree Herringbone is a closely woven woollen fabric. It has a versatile medium weight and a traditional rustic wool feel that boasts a stable handle that drapes reassuringly with the promise of cosy warmth. It’s the perfect fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects - it will always do as it’s told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.

Dressmakers, Reenactors, Costumiers, Interior Designers and Craftspeople and all lovers of textiles will find a plethora of uses for this first-rate herringbone, taking you through A/W and perfectly into spring.

Dressmakers; Rowan Tree is perfect for fashioning classic outerwear and hard-wearing separates. Start with simple and stylish pencil skirts, A-line skirts and waistcoats, choose a complementary quality lining and you’ll have garments that will soon become perennial favourites. Shift dresses and pinafore dresses are super comfy and make classic key pieces. When your sewing skills are more established, try classic jackets, coats and capes. Add multi toned, horn type buttons to your makes, picking out the tones of brown for an individual style.

Reenactors and Costumiers; The dark natural tones in  this fabric are ideal for a range of historical garments from capes and tunics to trousers and over dresses.

Interior Designers; use this hard-wearing wool herringbone to create a range of coordinating soft furnishings such as cushions, throws, blinds and curtains for a truly harmonious styling in the home.

Craftspeople; appliquéd cushions, bag making, door stops, draught excluders, hats, caps, neck warmers, mittens & wrist-warmers, throws & blankets and much more. Whatever this fabric inspires you to do!
