Introduction:

Spring Tide - Donegal Herringbone Tweed this quintessential classic Donegal Tweed is but one of a small collection of Yorkshire Tweed fabrics, created here in the epicentre of woollen fabric production: West Yorkshire. Expertly woven and finished to produce a premium quality, soft but traditional wool hand.

Colour:

Spring Tide is a gorgeous wool and polyester-silk tweed fabric. This cosy herringbone tweed boasts fabulous Donegal flecks of rich multi-tonal browns and lightly textured, white, poly blend-silk. A classic black herringbone detail forms a strong base much like the skeletal bones which inspire this weave. The winning blend of colours, tones and textures is as earthy and natural as a shingle beach pulled by the tides.

Properties:

If you love the look of traditional tweeds you will love the practicality of this blended fabric. The dense and close weave is soft and comforting yet hardwearing and stable, with a reassuringly heavy drape perfect for enveloping yourself on those cold coastal walks with the promise of cosy warmth.

Garment Suggestions:

Spring Tide is the perfect fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects - it will always do as it’s told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.

Dressmakers, Reenactors, Cosplayers, Costumiers, Craftspeople and all lovers of textiles will find a plethora of uses for this first-rate herringbone with a very natural look and style.

Perfect for fashioning classic outerwear and hard-wearing separates. classic jackets, coats, capes, gilets, simple wraps and ponchos. Add horn style buttons to your makes- picking out the colours of the Donegal flecks for an authentic rustic style.

Interior Designers: use this hard-wearing wool herringbone to create a range of coordinating soft furnishings such as cushions and throws.

Craftspeople: appliquéd cushions, bag making, door stops, draught excluders, hats, caps, neck warmers, mittens & wrist-warmers, throws & blankets and much more. Whatever this fabric inspires you to do!

Excellent coating

Perfect cold weather coating with the color combination of black, brown, and white/beige. The black dominates with diagonal yarns which is ideal. I plan to make another Rumana Coat By Hand London with this cloth over the summer.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
