Introduction:

A wonderful fine Italian woven viscose & cotton fancy diamond weave. The all over latticework of elongated diamonds contains a detailed design that emulates heads of wheat. This expertly woven fabric is no ordinary chambray, this is designer utility fabric that you can quite literally dress up or dress down. Why settle for the ordinary when you can be special? Create a range of smart/casual clothing styles using the Navy Wheat Sheaf.

Colour:

The combination of fine, silky soft yarns in black and French navy blue produces an all-over dark denim blue, and is similar in handle to a washed and worn favourite chambray, but with a subtle texture.

This is a range of denim/chambray style fabrics with a variety of tones and weaves, intended for a wide range of smart/casual clothing.

Team this fabric with its sister fabrics, available in both Mocha and Denim tones.
Properties:

Navy Wheat Sheaf boasts excellent stability and the most beautiful, reassuring drape quality, making it perfect for a mountain of uses!

Garment Suggestions:

The fabric will hold crisp details like collars and cuffs, plus it will form superb ruffles, gathers and pleats. Denim and chambray styles have perennial appeal. The colours suit most skin tones and sit with so many other things in your wardrobe. A natural fibre blend makes this beauty breathable and soft - perfect clothing for all members of the family, from pretty toddler dresses and cute rompers to seriously smart shirts.

Create unique shirts and blouses, shirt dresses, tunics and the most elegant and wearable dresses you will return to season after season. Vogue Patterns V1672 is an elegant wrap bodice dress with a gently flared skirt - perfect for wearing through spring and summer and layering up into autumn. If trousers are more your style, the Zadie Jumpsuit from Paper Theory Patterns has similar lines to V1672.

Utility styles in denim tones are super useful and never date, our very own The Pattern Stash - Cordelia Trousers pattern would be perfect for this superb fabric. The Assembly Line Patterns are ideal for utility styles as are Merchant & Mills and The Makers Atelier.  There are of course lots of other fabulous pattern brands out there, just choose patterns that let the fabric sell itself.

Originally made for the same high-end name as our SOS Collection, it's equally stunning and is perfect for cross-seasonal wear for the whole family.

Glowing colour with texture

I had been planning a trip to Fabworks to buy fabric to make an Ose Patterns Delano dress when the snow put a stop to my plans. I decided to order on-line instead and found the detailed description of the fabric helped me to choose. I was looking for a fabric that could cope with lots of gathers and yet have enough structure to hold its shape and I have found it. I had to take a leap of faith with the colour as the photos don’t do it justice although the description was helpful and I had trust in Fabworks that their taste chimes with mine. When the fabric arrived I was more than pleased - the colour is dark but vibrant and is enhanced by the diamond weave. Have cut it out and overlocked the edges and hope to get it mostly sewn up today. Think I might go for the brown version too.
